BROD PROSPERO "BOY" C. NOGRALES '68A
Brod Prospero "Boy" C. Nograles was a former Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines. He was elected as the Speaker of the House on February 5, 2008, the first ever elected Speaker from Mindanao in a hundred years in Philippine legislative history. Beginning in 1989, he was elected to five terms as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the 1st District of Davao City.
He was born in Davao City, and finished his primary and secondary education at the Ateneo de Davao University. He then studied at the Ateneo de Manila University, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree major in Political Science in 1967, and his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Ateneo de Manila University College of Law in 1971. He placed second in the 1971 Bar Examinations with an average of 90.95%.
In 1968, he joined the Aquila Legis Fraternity bestowing to the fraternity the legacy of his two sons: Jericho Jonas Nograles '05A, Puwersa ng Bayan Atleta (PBA) Party-list Congressman designated legislative caretaker of Davao City's 1st District, and Karlo Alexi Nograles '99A, Praeses in 2001-2002, himself formerly elected as member of the House of Representatives representing the 1st District of Davao and now Cabinet Secretary to the President of Philippines.
He is the epitome of a true Aquilan whose vision for the fraternity moved him to write the fraternity anthem that embodies the precepts of the Aquila Legis Fraternity and how every Aquilan is to abide by and imbibe them. The Aquila Legis Fraternity Anthem has inspired and guided Aquilans through the years and is envisaged to be a resounding source of inspiration and guidance to Aquilans for generations to come. "Fly Higher, Brother, Fly!"

I have a single but vivid memory of our beloved Kuya Boy Nogi. When I was still in college at Loyola in the very early 70s, I met him in a place in Herran where he visited his cousin. He had very, very long hair then and that stuck to my head. I remembered his surname. Little did I know that he will be my brother Aquilan as I did not even know about our fraternity, nor was I decided to go to law school then.
It is indeed a sad day for the Aquila family. Our highly esteemed and honored senior brother Boy Nograles is an Aquila Icon. And he will never be forgotten as long as our fraternity lives, for he created our meaningful frat song which will make him come to life every time we sing it!
Rest in Peace Kuya Boy Nogi! A true Aquilan! Fly higher brother fly to the heavens where you will have eternal peace and happiness! We love you!
